Check for solder splashes,around the area of the regulator. If this was what was replaced.Or in that area. Sounds like you have a short circuit.Might very well be in that area.Sometimes when some people change out parts they use way too much solder.Causeing short circuits.

Could be a shorted audio chip.Have you did a p.a. test??Is the signal meter detecting signal??I know you will not be able to hear the receive audio without the mic connected.But you can put the radio on say channel 19 and see if the signal meter is detecting signal..Also as i say do a p.a...

HOWDY,,I have several galaxys.One is a 33.I have found that the N.P.C. Mod/with volted final works real good. GO TO CB RETARDS WEB SITE for the easy to follow mod..Only requires removing one cap.And adding a 1n4001 diode and 100 ohm resistor.And adding a short jumper.

Also just a thought,but on the galaxy dx 2527,2517 had similar problem with power supply hum.Which was caused by TR-602 oscillating.The cure was to replace C-602 with a .01 uf cap. and remove C-608.I dont know off hand if your radio uses the EPT690010Z pcb or not.But thats just a thought. Even...

hi there,,,there is a chip thats has to be removed on this unit in order to boost modulation..it should be located on the solder side of the pc board above the transformer mounts,just to the right of the antenna connection...this is all the info i have on this radio....................pathfinder
