    One Track Mind

There's a guy near chicago that always says "Now who wants to come over here and watch me poop?, come on, I know there's someone out there that wants to watch me poop! I'm over here at the -insert truck stop here- and feel a big stinky one buiding up, so who wants to come out here, and watch me...

    CPI CP 2000

One of the locals here has tons of CPI stuff, and has a ton of info, and knows people that work on CPIs exclusively. I'll ask him next time I talk to him, and post back.

    They're here....finally......

Try installing ANY radio in a chevy HHR! Almost impossible. I had to mount the galaxy 959 on the back of the passenger seat.

    43 ohms ?

Being top loaded, and using a 2nd grounded antenna, maybe the spacing between the 2 antennas is what's causing it. Maybe it's the heigth. Try adding a spacer (spring) to the skipshooter, and see how it affects your swr, and go from there.

    2 antennas 1 roof

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about the hood, too, but already have a roof mount. I believe the best place for an omni antenna is center mounted on roof. If I can only have one up there, the CB antenna wins, since I use it more, lol.

    2 antennas 1 roof

I have a wilson 5000 for CB and now a larsen dual band 2 m/70 cm NMO mount antenna I want to mount to my ford ranger. I always had the wilson mag mounted to the center of the roof, and am getting ready to drill a hole for the permanant mount. I also want my VHF/UHF antenna permanant mounted, but...

    Got an Icom IC-208H today

The tone squelch is optional thing that depends on preference I think. I only say that, because it can be turned on and off. In the on position, the radio is quiet, and only takes the signal, if it picks up the required tone, which is sub-audible.

    Got an Icom IC-208H today

DUH...I think I figured it out  The tone is to access the repeater, and the tone squelch frequency allows the incoming signal to break MY squelch. If that's not right, PLEASE let me know. lol.

Yep, I'm on Cb- 28 and 15 here in illinois. Have made contact with you a few times when the skip was rolling.

    Got an Icom IC-208H today

I'm a little confused about the CTCSS codes. This radio has "tone frequency" , "tone squelch frequency" , and "DTCS code" I'm not sure what to change for access to the repeaters. For example, one of the repeaters requires CTCSS 107.2. Now, which do I change, the tone freq, tone squelch, or both?

    Got an Icom IC-208H today

I had been looking for a decent first radio, and was trying to keep it on the cheaper side. I looked at a LOT of radios online, but a local made me a nice deal on a barely used icom 208H. It looks like it was NEVER used, actually. I was leaning toward the Yaesu ft-2800M, but for literally only a...

Congrats Lazybones! I plan on going for that soon. I was down by your neck of the woods for thanksgiving. Flew down to Sarasota when my father in law passed away, spent thanksgiving, and then drove his 36' motorhome back to PA. Just got back to IL last night.

    Took the technician test today

Got my call sign yesterday. KC9OSX I've been traveling the last week, so the wait wasn't that bad. My father in law passed away on his vacation in florida, and I flew down there to drive the RV back to PA. Some of you might remember my thread in the antenna forum about installing in a motorhome.

Cool. I was listening to 10 meters the other night, and noticed the only things different about it than CB, is the call signs, and that people don't walk all over each other, lol. (and the language)
