My former Elmer, now SK used to have a daily sched from his QTH here in North Central Ohio to about mid way down the Florida coast on 40M using a just dipole some days were better than others but they were always able to have at least a 20 min. QSO running just 100 watts.

I use a regular 3/4" hole saw with several layers of emery cloth rapped around about 1/4" from the bottom and secured with a hose clamp, this gives depth control + it cleans the paint off the roof so I get a good ground. A lot cheaper than the special cutter that's recomended.

It is a good time, first time working split and have worked several stations on 20, 40, & 80M SSB with just 100W and a wire antenna.

I have seen 3 of these in Marion, Ohio and wondered why. Will have to see about finding out who has paid for them.

No problem here and I use Avast also, Norton was too much of a hog.

I used both QRZ and EHAM to help in my study for general and extra. Between the two I got a 96 on my extra.
