    JB-150 Tube heating issue help!

Yeh I figured that. I'm sure that would have fooled them !!! (not). Although if the FCC is anything like the ACMA down here in Oz, they are office monkeys who wouldn't know a diode from a dog****.

    JB-150 Tube heating issue help!

I dunno, that schematic doesn't look right to me... Have a squiz at the HV caps to make sure none are punched through and leaky to earth.

    dualband Antenna

As already indicated, as separate 11M antenna would be the go. For VHF (and into UHF) I have had success with Discone antennas. They are pretty wideband. This is the one I had been using until recently.. Diamond® Antenna ~ D130J Super Discone Antenna

    Attack of the 2m Clones!!!

One other thing, quite a few do not do DTMF from the keypad, so if you are into IRLP etc. make sure it does, a few guys down here came up short in their selection.

    Attack of the 2m Clones!!!

While not 2M, it is Chinese radio related... A few years ago I bought a "Jintong" UHF on 70cms, and it was absolute rubbish, poor build quality, poor audio etc. I gave it away to someone who was not so fussy. About a year ago I was offered 2 new KYD TK-760A units, for $120 the pair ($...

    Slight problem with Yaesu FT-897D

There may be somewhere else on the radio that is only powered when the radio is actually on, like a CAT or DATA port pin (not sure what the 897D has). It may not supply 13.8v, but something should be there to switch a transistor / small relay etc. that could switch 13.8V supply volts to the...

What is your Favorite CB Operating Mode?

Just as an clarification..... in Australia there is AM/SSB as well. We have the standard 40 AM/SSB on 27Mhz the same as the good ole USA. And we also have 40 channels FM (soon to be 80 I am told) on 477Mhz, however 2 of these channels are data only (for Farmers mostly, telemetry for Water...

    alinco dx 70 th

I have a 70TH, and while it is a nice simple radio, it has a couple of drawbacks. 1. Its noise blanker is not much good, in my car it was very noisy, unable to hear a lot of signals. Note this was not all noise from my car, but also from every vehicle around. 2. It uses a special cable for...

    VHF Radios sharing an antenna

Just to throw something into the ring, and I don't know (or want to know) the legalities of such a setup... But what about a crossband repeat setup? i.e., Single main VHF/UHF unit that does wideband and cross repeater activated(I know some of the Alinco range did this, and were easily...

CB radio conversion to 75 Meters - Anyone ever done it?

OK, remember these boards are just blank PCB ! You need all the components and schematics etc. to complete. If you decide to go this path let me know if I can be of any assistance, sometimes easier to source stuff in the originating country.

CB radio conversion to 75 Meters - Anyone ever done it?

There have been a couple of kits/projects down here in Australia, for 11m to 80m transverters. These would not be a stretch to get working on 75m. One I built in the 80's. Cannot remember where that came from. There was another by the magazine 'Silicon Chip" in 1995. I would guess a crystal...

    President Washington Meter.

Hi, I was given a fairly nice Washington base ..with a few issues. All of them are now rectified apart from the S/RF/Mod meter is totally inoperative. I've pulled it out and it appears to be open circuit. I have a schematic, but it does not list the meter type.. I'm hoping it is a garden...

    2007 JK JEEP ANTENNA MOUNT

Let me translate... "what ever you think will make you happy and works good" means.. "I will be buying something that costs 10 times what you are spending but you had better not comment on it"

    No thermal compound?

The Silicon heatsink insulators seem pretty common in modern stuff. I guess it is easy to apply via Robot. Beware of the heatsink compounds in old equipment. Some it is Beryllium based, which is highly toxic.

Incase you cannot find the Galaxy kit, and you can scrounge up someone with Electronics skills, have a look at this page , halfway down, there is a cct diagram of an "expander". Probably the same circuit the Galaxy kit uses. http://cbworldinformer.com/cb_world_961001.htm

    alinco dx 70 th

I'm using a DX70Th in the shack now (along with a DR-610), I've had it for a long time , maybe 9 years or more. Has been mobile and worked pretty well. Its a really simple set to use, performance is good, it could use some better noise filtering. Can't say I have used it on AM , its a mode not...

    FT 857-D

100% correct, the software mod does not work on the newer 857D's. The hardware mod is pretty easy, just moving some surface mount links. You do need a steady hand , good quality fine tip soldering iron and good eyes though, as there are some darn fine tracks that could be damaged. By the way...

    Mag delta force problem..

Not sure about this ...but does it have 5 memories like the Magnum 257 ? On my 257 the trick was to program a CB frequency into a memory channel. Then at power up just recall the memory channel and you are in CB band.. Sure not as neat as it just powering up into CB band, but better than...
