I have a 2517 that has very low receive audio even with an audio pre amp installed. I have read somewhere on the net that it is the squelch amplifier but I cannot find the part on the board and from everything I have heard about the cb shop near my home it would be wise to NOT take it there...
The Workman model is the same as the Maco model only sold cheaper, Think of it like the Cobra 29LTD classic and the Uniden PC78xl after all they are the same basic radio only different names and the faceplate that lights up. Inside same board same parts only different names on the parts.
OOPS my radio dont have D32 I forgot to look at the front to see if it had instant ch 9 LMAO my mistake. My radio is an older cobra 29 GTL Thanks anyway I will get a newer 29 with instant 9 so I can make it talk like my current one and do the ch 19 mod, Thank you
Open the solder side of the radio and look for a 1M ohm resistor near the audio chip and remove it this should reduce the volume level of the Talkback. This procedure only works if the radio has had the talkback level increced for the owner, also before doing this what kind of microphone are you...
