Are you using anything for below 20Mhz?
Kudos on the panel box...i was thinking along the same lines but mounted on the tower, also to utilize arrestors and with a ground-bus...i have to go up to the second floor | No Opinion on the Hex to date. This is my first beam so this is new territory for me. The beam is just a little awkward but I was able to place it on the end of the mast on the tower by myself climbing up a 8ft step ladder. So you shouldn't have any trouble managing it. I do have plans to put a loop that I can try and tune for 6M-160M. I too an using arrestors that are at the base of the tower.
