I have a Uniden 510xl that I first used as a base back in '82. I then bought the Washington and it has been my CB base ever since. As far as Amateur radios I did a lot of research before I decided on the rigs I have .The HF radio 757gx was my first HF base purchase. I use it primarily for 40m-10m . I enjoy using it for SSTV on 20m. I bought the 101B a couple winters ago because I have always been fascinated by tube radios. It had just been completely gone over by an electronics professor from KY before I bought it. I use it quite a bit for 75m . My next radio when I can afford it would be a 10m mobile .I have a couple HTX-202's and a 404 that I started with for UHF/VHF. I then bought the 700a that gave me a blast on 2m SSB ,and an Icom 2100h . I just traded for a HTX-420 dual-band HT that I like alot. I also have a Teaberry T Control and a Johnson 223 Messenger that I retubed and it has a switchable tube/solid-state power supply . I like making wire antennas. I'm short on antenna theory but I have no problem following the layout to make one I spent about 5-6 years setting antennas up in my attic. It's nice at the new place to actually have them on the roof and trees
