Question Robyn 520d issue


I have a robyn 520d that when i hook the center of the pl259 it receives fine but when i screw the outer part on it loses receive and the swr is sky high.i have chacked my antenna and coax and it is all good.other radios are fine on it.i do not have a clue what is wrong,any ideas?

Try a different cable to rule out that as a cause. A shorted cable can play tricks making them hard to find.

that is what i thought also i tried a couple of different radios and they worked fine.

maybe a bad so239 on the radio..that happened on one of my old rat snack radios..

Halfcent -

The SO-239 is definitely the problem. There is an intermittent connection between the center connector on the 239, and the pin on the PL259. Try cleaning the 239 with contact cleaner . Then bend the four contacts on the center receptacle in slightly to improve contact with the PL259, If it works... ok, but I would still replace the connector. After all, it is over 30 years old, and is probably pretty worn.
