Hi fellow CBer's and enthusiasts, I have a couple 540d Robyns now and plan to get at least one of them modded with uppers channels. I just want the best method and forward me details or write them out if you are in the know but please don't leave anything out thanks. I am aware CB Tricks has this in thier Secret CB Books but I do NOT know if it has been confirmed all the way through to work well ?

I wouldn't mind having the clarifer mod too...

Appriciate the replys in advance and 73's - Retro (Jimbo)

Here's the PLL info from Lou Franklin's "The PLL Data Book"
http://robco.ath.cx/cb/PLLpinout.htm#LC7120

http://robco.ath.cx/cb/PLLpinout.ht...c.http://robco.ath.cx/cb/upd861truthchart.htm
Here's the uPD858 "truth chart", which is the same as the LC710, N codes are the same (91-135)... and in many rigs or similar design the 858 was used. Two things to keep in mind:
1. The PLL (and channel selector/selection) are BCD, not straight binary
2. IIRC, the LC7120 only has 6 programming pins:

http://robco.ath.cx/cb/PLLpinout.ht...c.http://robco.ath.cx/cb/upd861truthchart.htm

Here is where I documented the channel mod for the uPD861... a SIMILAR chip. This will likely be the most helpful for making your switches, etc., and has truth charts, wiring diagrams, etc.

Thank you so very much bro.... Now if only I can find out a way to get just the typical 45-59 channels on the Pace 8193 CB ssb base station.... Any clue ?

The Pace 8193 uses a CCI3001 PLL. It has 7 binary input pins, with P0 (2 to the zero) starting at pin 16 and going DOWN to P6 (2 to the 6th) at pin 10.

Given that, if you could control the PLL directly by manipulating the pins, the PLL should tune (2^7) - 1 channels, or 127.

There are two problems with this... The PLL may have the only valid N-codes stored in ROM and may error (quit working) if the N code is out of range. The second problem is one of broad-bandedness.

Perhaps a solution is an "expo" type board that would give you a band below the FCC 40 and one above.

That's about all I know about that chip.

I mention the solution to get extra channels for this PLL a while ago and works as intended in my Royce 1-639 AM/SSB radio

http://funkservice.at/dokus/TS340_PLL-module_en.pdf

These 3 Modules are for UPD858,UPD2816/24 and CCI3001

Hi there, sounds fantastic brother ! So what all or how many radios does this cover ? I know the Royce 642 which I used to have has same PLL chip as the Pace 8193 correct ? I've got a Royce 641 base that gets 41-59 channels I believe. But I have the Royce 639 ssb mobile and somebody added 3 switches to it for channels and they are all jumbled up quite a mess and even with a map, it's confusing lol... Please direct me to all the radios it covers and how much shipping to my zip in the states which is 47172 sir. Also your website for a look, which I've been there I think. How long does it take to get this from you approx... ?

Thanks so much 73's, Retro ( Jim )

Hi Jimbo:

The module for the Royce Radio CCI3001 PLL covers 120 Channels or 3 Bands in
5 Khz steps or 10 Khz steps

26.515 to 26.955 Mhz Low Band
26.965 to 27.405 Mhz CB Band
27.415 to 27.855 Mhz High Band

I payed 107 Euros including shipping for the 3 Modules from Austria to Arizona and took about 2 weeks to arrive

The Module for the Radios with PLL UPD2816/24 Cobra 29GTL,Cobra 1000GTL,Uniden PC78XL,Uniden PC76LT,Realistic TRC-456,Uniden PC-122,etc.. works in AM and SSB Radios same 3 Bands,5 & 10 Khz Steps

The Module for Radios with PLL UPD858,Realistic TRC-449,TRC-457,TRC-458,Cobra 138XLR,139XLR,Old Uniden Washington,Etcc.. has more coverage or 4 bands +

Mr. Maurer is working on a board for my Aircomand Superscope Radios with PLL UPD861,I have 4 different models that need to be expanded

Also there is another tech in Oz Land that does Radio Expansion Modifications with Radical Methods but shipping your Radios to this tech cost to much

Check the video,to see what she did to this Radio

You need to go back to some of your other threads, I posted a video of how to get extra channels with the Royce 1-642/Pace 8193.

~Cheers~

Yes sir and I missed it back when I had the Royce 642 and now I have a chance to grab the Pace 8193 and not sure I will grab it or not. Wondering if one radio general outperforms the other or NOT, or both the same ? I would prefer the best performing as both look decent. I've not owned the Pace 8193, so NO idea and it is more rare I know do that !!! Thanks for that video brother again, I was kinda blown away once I noticed it was there, that's special you'd do that for me bro. I know at least a handful of extra channels can be accomplished at least...

73's God bless - Retro

Andy this is super cool and really interesting, I appriciate you sharring very much brother. I think I'll dive into this at some point and explore and very likely go for it...

You know another oddball radio that seems very difficult to mod for channel is the Realistic TRC-459 !

Hey I've got 2 AIrCommand 1040 base units, I would be interested in extra frequencys also, so what other models do you have from them ?
I thought about getting the mobile but just couldn't pull the trigger lol. I love the base unit though it's awesome AM rig !!!

Hi Jimbo:

About the TRC-459 a Crystal swap is what it takes to get extra channels for the High Band (Above Ch 40)

Problem is that the radio is narrowbanded and loose selectivity & power when someone tries to expand the frequency range, unless is heavily modified

I believe Mr. Maurer makes a board for the PLL LC7113 in the TRC-459,if he doesn't he can probably make one

About the Superscopes,I have 2 CB140's,2 CB340's,3 CB640's and 3 CB1040's

I see brother, now what exact crystal would that be to get say 41-80 and still keep 1-40 ? But yeah sounds like I should go with Mr. Maurer and who is that again bro ?

Listen thanks very much 73's, Retro - JImbo
