I have a D104 mic old 4 pin and I need to wire this up to a Cobra GTL 2000 5 pin plug . Can the shield and the the common wire be tied together since I only have a 4 wire cable on this D104 or do I need to run a new cable I am kind of unsure at this point. On my D104 Mic the colors are red, shield, pink, and a yellowish/green wire. Can anyone help me?

All you need is a 5 pin plug.
    Astatic (6 wire)
    1- White
    2- Shield
    3- Black
    4- Blue
    5- Red
    Yellow N/C

    D104 mic wiring

Since I only have a 4 wire cable on this D104 mic there is no blue wire. Do I need to run a brand new cable between the mic plug and the inside of the D104 mic? Can't I make this work without having to connect 5 wires.?

If you have a 4 wire mic; that will do it...

    D104 Mic wiring

I will try this wiring you have suggested. Where did you get this information. I have been checking on the internet in many different locations. I even looked at the manuf web site and it did not give the wiring for a 4 wire cable.

You're correct. On the 4 pin plug they switch the shield to pin 4 whereas the 5 pin plug has the shield on the 2 pin .

I believe you need to jump pin 4 to pin 2.
