Aside from the drifting issues that the SIltronix has they are one tough radio...They have a good full rich sound on transmit and a great recieve...

    I had a D model and I loved it!!

Sorry, I didn't introduce myself first, I am new at this forum stuff. JT. here- killowatt21@aol.com. Please E-mail me if you want with questions or tricks for these radio's. I am thinking about finding a web site to join, or make just for these type radios.

Google yahoo groups siltronix, any and all info , schematics, mods etc can be found there. 1011, B,C,and D.

Great rigs have shelf full of them and their big cousins the Swan series ham rigs. Real Radios glow in the dark.

Drifting can be fixed with an vfo stabilizer or regulate the -12vdc to the oscilator transistor on the silkies. Easy mod to do parts available off the shelf at rat shack.

Do the 6lb6 tube mod and get rid of that 8950. follow alignment in manual to a T and that old silkie will rock and roll on SSB.

N3ZI freq counter is a wonderful addition to the silkies, external of course never cut the original deck to install a freq counter.
