Viagra blue dot 'b' board problems

I have a junk 959 board sitting here that I was able to look at... I found the location of R133 on the PCB and cross-referenced it to the schematic. That was easy. I just find it strange that they'd pull the +8V to power the Viagra board at J28. There are far better sources for +8V on the PCB. Like I said earlier, I think they did that for ease of installation purposes. Best place to find +8V would be to solder the positive wire off the Viagra board to JP190. It's a jumper that's located right next to J14, to the left. That's a stable +8V source.

If you're referring to R133, no, it's not part of the clarifier circuit from what I can tell. However, it almost looks like J28 was put in specifically for the Viagra boards. Interesting.

Anyhow, put in a 47 ohm resistor at R133, or snip the positive power wire off the connector of the Viagra board that plugs into J28 and solder that wire to JP190 for a stable +8V source to power the board. Good luck!

Well,I finally got around to checking R133(47ohm). I was told that the R133 position wasn't a 47ohm resistor and that was the reason why my Viagra board went nuts. Have a look for yourselves. I need to find a stable 8 volt tap to power the Viagra board.

If you scroll back a few posts, I mentioned a way to be able to get a stable +8V source. Just take the positive wire from the Viagra board, snip it off the connector, and run it to JP190. It's at the front/center of the radio. Good luck! :)

ExitThirteen, yes you did and I remembered that from before. Robb,I don't have the time to check the voltage tonight but I will soon. Tonight I plugged the Viagra board up the the 959 and it seems to be working for now. I have it on a power supply. When it goofed up before,it was in my car and I had just cranked it up it might could have been a somewhat depleted car battery plus the power for the radio is plugged into the stereo amp rack. I have a 1 farad cap with circuitry that flashes LEDs when it's in the charge mode and I have a fuse block with a led volt and amp display built into it. The power for the 959 is tied into a vacant fuse space on the fuse block. The led dome and map lights flicker when I first start the car. A whole lot of ripple current is going on there. I'm going to run it as it is and see what it does. Thanks for the input.
