Default turner + 3 wiring

I have saw the wiring for a Turner + 3 to a Cobra 25.
When I wire it up as stated and I plug it in the radio I get
a loud hum and the needle pegs to the right.
Here is the way I wired it up.
1-sh/red
2-white
3-blue
4-black
Any suggestions?
It's not the radio cause I tried it on my other Cobra 25 which is brand new.
Thanks

That is the correct wiring for that mic/radio combo, check for short circuit in the mic connector area meaning where you soldered in the connector, very small wires are hard to see sometimes.

I was wondering about the shield being connected to the red or transmit.

That's the same as my super sidekick (I looked inside) and I assume they like many other manufactures used different mic cords with different color wires.

There is a switch on the bottom of the mic electronic/relay, put it in electronic position.

There is a conversion in the handbook ( changing use of wires when using a 6 wire Turner for a 4 wire radio )that tells you to use the black wire in place of the blue and the red wire in the place that black would normally be when using a 6 wire.

Not sure if someone put a Turner 6 wire cord on it. My Turner CS-1 is a 6 wire.
