This is the cats meow! What a friggen antenna! One has to be here in front of it to realize the massive height and it's giant size. The coastguard & the Rangers use these antennas for disasters out on Lake Michigan. Well, that's what I was told. Can you see any RF chokes or baluns? There's one in front center for the yagi with the coax just coiled up a few times and there's one at the bottom on the base of the pole of the large circular antenna. It's covered with that orange wrapping. A lot to se HOLY CRAP! DXing anyone? Me & My little boy were down at Camp Logan one weekend in July and we stumbled by this communications barricade. I was so taken by this and it furthered my inspiration of Amateur Radio even further. Plus the scenery of Lake Michigan and all just made it e What I'd do to own some kind of set-up like this. This Antenna is huge. Lake Michigan looking towards Milwaukee WI from Illinois The Old Rt 173 Continuing down to Lake Michigan after the RR tracks and barricade. You can see how 20 years or more has taken it's toll. Looking south from the same location you can see the old Zion Nuclear Plant. They shut it down like twenty years ago from concrete faults to avoid a meltdown. As far as I know, the spent fuel rods are still cooling down there. Camp Logan, Zion, IL
