How did you find WorldWide Radio Forum?:
    Searching for amateur radio
I have been involved with CB radio since the mid 1970’s in Australia before it was legal here. Radios in vehicles had to be hidden. We started with 23ch. then the Govt legalised 18ch. Eventually due to so many users they legalised 40ch. Around the same time they introduced UHF radios which eventually overtook 27MHz radios as the radio of choice.
It became immensely popular in the agricultural industry as they could turn
Motors on like water pumps via there radios. Trucks gradually took to it and now it’s usually installed in them when new. Very much standard in 4wd vehicles and work vehicles both govt and private.
27MHz is gradually seeing a come back with the old generation and their children who grew up with their parents using it.
27MHz AM is virtually dead in Australia with SSB the number one choice and with the sun cycle heading to its peak in the next few years interest is growing again.
