ONCE AGAIN, I"LL MAKE A POST ABOUT A NEW RADIO NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT. BUT, UNTIL YOU READ ABOUT IT FROM "FREECELL" IT DOESN'T EXIST YET. I FOUND THIS RADIO ALREADY FOR SALE AT A NICE LITTLE RADIO SHOP IN HOLBROOK AZ, NOT AT THE SHOP THAT LIKES TO TRASH ON EVERYBODY'S (OR ALMOST EVERYBODY'S) SHOP. SO TO DISPENSE OF YOUR ANXIETY, I"LL TELL YOU ABOUT THIS NEW RADIO.

THIS NEW RADIO IS THE HIGHER POWERED VERSION OF THE CONNEX 4300-300 AND IT 'S CALLED THE "CONNEX 4300-400WSM". I'AM STILL WONDERING WHAT THE "WSM" ACRONYM IS. ( WILL STOMP MUDDUCKS? )

THIS RADIO FRESH OUT OF THE BOX SHOWED A DEADKEY OF 110 WATTS AND A PEAK SWING AT 420 WATTS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A (4)2879 PILL VERSION OF THE 4300-300 TO COMPETE WITH THE RCI 63FFC4.

AS WITH THE OTHER HIGH POWERED CONNEX RADIOS, IT LACKS THE FEATURES OF THE OTHER EXPORT RADIOS. i.e. NO FREQUENCY COUNTER, NO SIDEBAND, A SMALLER NUMBER OF CHANNELS. ESSENTIALLY, IT'S THE SAME LAYOUT AS THE 4300-300 WITH THOSE SAME BLINDING AND BLARING BLUE LIGHTS. BUT, IN THE CONNEX TRADITION, IT SHOULD BE... ONE-LOUD-TALKER!!!

Yes, it's a new Connex model 4300-400WSM (Walter S. Mooneyhan) owner of Connex Radios. He's a radio man to the core and one of the nicest people in the business.
 
Wish they'd come out with something like this with SSB. Very few AM'ers here where I live, 90% talk on SSB, so an AM/FM radio here would serve no purpose. Make something with SSB, please!! :(
 
Got the profit margin thing nailed down...LOL


It just seems that for every 1 SSB radio that comes out there are 15-20 AM/FM models being made. It really makes me wonder if SSB is a dying breed, or are the companies just really banking on the CB/trucker market to "blow up" and increase sales?

Thanks for defining the WSM. We are still waiting for Galaxy to come up with a comparable or better radio! any thoughts?
 
Galaxy 98T is a much better all around radio than the connex. whats difference between 200 and 400 watts? 3DB Nothing to get excited about.

Wait no longer the biggest gawd dam Galaxy radio in the World is out, but only I have it. :)

98VHP with 4X2879 pills in it. Dang nice radio if I do say so myself.

Galaxy needs to come out with one better before I buy another. :)

Maybe a 1X4 or a 2X4 somthin'. :)

Galaxy really needs too get on the ball.

I just might go out and buy that Connex 4300-400 WSM. Just because It's a big RADIO!

All mode HF equipment is so well built and designed with so many great SSB features plus the prices have really dropped over the last few years. When I was a heavy into chatting on the radio I had my Kenwood TS-930 for SSB and my Tram D201A for AM. Just hooked them to a coaxial switch which worked great for me. I know that doesn't work in the car/truck but who really kicks it in SSB while mobile these days? Trying to set your GPS, XM-Radio and talk on your blue tooth phone all at the same time, do you really have an extra hand to keep on the clarifier control for SSB operation while driving 80 miles an hour?

Lol I do see what you mean, although I don't have any of those fancy gadgets in my mobile. No GPS, bluetooth cell phone, or XM radio here.

My President Jackson keeps me well entertained in my mobile, and I run SSB in there all the time. Yeah, I'm such a die-hard, I know. :D

I had an Icom IC-725 in the mobile at one time, but it didn't quite have enough power, and I didn't want to have to turn the power down to 20-30W PEP to run an amp on SSB, so I did away with it, and went to my current setup now, which is my Jackson and a T/S DX500 4 button.

Maybe they'll make something that will combine the radio and box with some SSB in the future, for now, I'll just have to wait.
 
Sounds like some people do not like truckdrivers or they are jealous of the attention the radio manufacturers are giving them(us). We are the lions share of the market place, so deal with it!
