Hello all.
I have an old RCA console TV.
When I talk barefoot there is no interfearence.
When I turn on my KLV 550 it bleeds through the tv.
I tried a low pass TVI filter but no improvement still bleeds.
I tried hooking up the filter different ways but nothing.
There are no directions with the filter ( model PDC1089 )
Not positive I hooked it up right.
Anybody know how it connects?

Make sure you have a really good ground system and ground the filter too!

Make a coaxial choke at the antenna feed point by turning about 6 to 8 loops around 6 to 8 inch form. (don't just wrap the coax in a circle, try to make it like a nice coil, and do not use a metal for like a coffee can, use a plastic form, even like a 2-liter coke bottle, but a little bigger is better.)

You're overloading the front end of the TV. Either reduce power to where the problem stops, or move the TV away from the source (the antenna or possibly that alleged amplifier).

What channel(s) are primarily affected? Google a list of TV station frequencies and compare them with the second and third harmonics of your transmitting frequency.

A couple of things:

1. Buy a digital converter or your TV won't work soon. This may help your problem also, as now the channel frequencies received will be much higher (except for channel 3 on your TV itself where you'll need to turn the TV to). One problem you might have: Your TV may not have external antenna connection if it's real old. If that's the case, it's time to buy a new TV, because you're going to get nothing but fuzz without the converter box.

2. It might be coming in through the power. Get an RF attenuating power strip from radio shack or best buy. Don't even bother asking the sales clerk for help; you'll get a blank stare. You need to read the specs on the box and find one that says something like 40db RF attenuation or something similar.

If you make a choke, you do it at the antenna.

The tv is cable ready and is in the living room

Does that mean you're getting your tv signal from the cable company? Or are you just saying that it is what they used to call "cable ready" and you're getting signal from an antenna?

OK, that is some important information for troubleshooting your problem. You should try the power strip suggestions as it's likely coming in from the AC. You can also wind the coax around some big torroids in case it's coming in on the shield of the coax. My bet would be on the AC, though.

Thanks your all your answers.
I took a piece of tv cable 5' long and made a choke out of it.
The other day I hooked it to the back of the tv but no good.
Today I hooked it to the input of the cable box and bingo it works.
Thanks again.
