What are you doing for Field Day? Last full weekend in June.

My local club isn't operating.

Nearest club is a good distance away so I'm going to enjoy the comforts of home again and operated 1 Delta. All I have left equipment wise at the moment is 10 meters but that's good this year as the propagation has been great and 10 meters should be rockin' for FD this year as well as the next year or two.

I won't be reporting my score but enjoy being a contact for all the others out there who do.

Boy, I haven't thought of it . Guess I won't be on the radio . That weekend the wife and I will be going on a trip for our anniversary. Our club had a Field Day a couple weekends ago and I missed that. It has been a hectic year. My son spent 16 weeks in a cast and surgery as he completely broke the side of the large socket of his leg where it connects to his ankle. And since then physical therapy for him. Maybe I can sneak a radio in the vehicle on the trip:)

This will be my first field day we have a small club out here were going to bbq and work the radios from what the club has said it sounds like Good times (y)

I'm not part of a local ham club (not that there aren't tons around here) so I don't really participate in field day. I do my own "field day" whenever I go camping, anyway :)

Hooked up some batteries and working 1E out of Dixie on 10 meters. Decent but not strong propagation this afternoon. Mostly working Region 1 and 2 stations early on. Probably may swing west this afternoon. About 10 stations in first 45 minutes

I'm going to participate with the club I belong to. We are going to use our Emergency Operating Center for the event. I think I'll go over to the EOC after supper and spend the evening there. I always enjoy Field Day. With the recent Sporadic E openings on 10m it should be interesting making contacts on 10m and 6m.

Ended up not going away for the weekend. I checked 6m but had nothing here but there has been activity according to some DX websites.

You can see the complete classification list at arrl.org

If you are at home running commercial power, your designation would be 1D (delta), and then the abbreviation for your state. Some states have more than 1 section so you need to look that up to.

The ARRL site is one of the worst I've ever seen. I can't find a list of the designators anywhere. Lots of other superfluous info, but not the info i am trying to find.

The problem I have with field day is that it's been turned into just another contest, and I'm not fond of radio contests.

Another problem I have with field day is that since it has become just another contest, the level of ignorance and bad operating practices is greatly elevated.

So far today I have had to break into the Maritime Mobile Service net, and inform stations calling out "CQ Field Day" that they are interfering with the Maritime Mobile Service Net, and to please take their field day activity to another frequency. The QRM from field day operators working too close to 14.300 Mhz is also making net operations a nightmare.

It was bad enough that I broke my forum silence on QRZ and posted a comment about it there as well. No doubt my words will either fall on deaf ears, or they will start a flame war, but I really don't give a rat's ass, something needed to be said, and I said it.

Think about it, the Innercon Net, Mariitime Mobile Service Net, and Pacific Seafarer's Net all have operated on 14.300 Mhz since the late 50's or early 60's. Anyone that has spend 5 minutes on the HF bands know that frequency is in use morning, noon and night with service nets, there is no excuse beyond ignorance for anyone to break onto that frequency for a contest, or field day, yet they still do it......

There are two clubs here holding field day operations, one is being held on the beach, I won't be attending either one.....

We had perfect weather for Field Day. Our club met and set up at the local park

I only live about 5 miles down the road so I did not camp there.
