I was listening to my scanner on the ham and railroad bands ( I'm a railfan also.)and i was hearing a repeater on the frequency 29.6200 comming from NJ .
Is it common to hear the 10 meters like over a 1000 miles away from the source ?

10 meter from NJ

The 10 meter band had some good openings that day. I worked Nevada, Utah,
Wy, and Kansas that day. I also heard a Washington station but couldn't make a contact. I also picked up a French FM broadcast station on 21.340mhz. which is strictly amatuer only.It may have been a studio direct link transmission out of a Va. based commerical shortwave broadcastinng station???

10 meters Can Be OPEN & Cause Nobody Thinks its Open they don't Know Most of the time when its open cause they won't through out there CALL That's all it takes EFFORT ! (Curiosity killed the cat & satisfaction brought it BACK!!!!!!!!)

I think that's the Woodstock NY KQ2H machine. It's commonly open to FL when 10 opens. 28.660 would be WB2HWW machine in Queens, though it doesn't run nearly as much power as the 1500W of the KQ2H 10m machine.
