What's going on. The Marconi net on 3972.0 disappeared. Now all hear is AM transmissions. Anyone have the scoop on what happened?

Just going by what was said here, and on that web site, try checking the frequency again. As in 3.872 and 3.972?

Yeah it's 3.872 and moves occasionally due to intentional QRM.

If you like the net, join the yahoo group as the frequency changes are generally emailed out around net start time at 9pm.

Thursdays are on 1988 on 160m but with very sparse turnout.

Tnx for the information. I'll have to join the yahoo groups. It used to be on 3872 every night but it's no longer there. Sometimes I just like to listen in there.

Yeah last night was 3.843 if you checked then. I like the net a lot for what it's trying to do, but with all the jamming that tends to concentrate there and sometimes the level of the participants, I have to be in the right mood to join.

When the host loses his temper and taunts the jammers...it really starts to get on my nerves.

I haven't been on 80 meters for several weeks, I do know that the guy who runs the Marconi net can be a little hard to take sometimes, and he's always at odds with the crew from the north east that hangs on 3.814.00...

Once the leaves fall off the trees, and I can lengthen my random wire, I'll try and play on 80 again, right now nobody seems to hear me.....

Maybe you would be better off just making friends directly on the air without "guidance" from people who don't seem too good at getting along with others. Always worked for me.

I never noticed the net with no name guys slurring speech. There are a lot of hams with disabilities out there. If you know for sure these guys are drunks that's one thing. If someone suggested that it's quite another.

Let's just say certain people on that band cannot be taken at face value.

The truth always comes out in the wash;)

Trimmed this post because of a lot of pot stirring that has resulted.

Basically 3.814 is not a group I particularly care for and don't participate there now. Make your own decisions ;-)

So let's recap.

You've stated those who don't like Fred are

1. Drunks
2. Jammers
3. Have mental disorders
4. Agitators

I submit that the dozen or so hams who DO like Fred are

1. Easliy led
2. May have the best of intentions however uninformed
3. Weak minded
4. Rarer every day.

When you find out the WHOLE truth you will be even more disgusted AND will know that you have been had.

You didn't pay attention...I haven't been much of a cheerleader for his net either...not in the state its been in lately.

The detractors mentioned though...they don't have logical arguments. They are typically people who just enjoy disrupting the bands.

There's blame on both sides, but the jammers are not in any way in the right. If people don't like Fred's net, simply don't participate...which is the avenue that I take.

So what is the whole truth?

BTW, I thought it was against the law to intentionally jam some else's transmission?
