DSP for 2970

Whay not just have a good radio tech do a receive mod to quiet that down. I'm not sure a simple speaker swap will have much effect. Depending on where you bought it they might not even have touched the receive. A good shop will at least re-align the receive to 11m when they convert it.

I highly recommend the ClearSpeech Speaker..

I have an original and money would not buy it, as far as I am concerned it will
be the Last piece of equiptment to leave my shack.

At present I have a large picture frame speaker plug into the back of it for my
Kenwoods on the base.

In the mobil it is Invaluable and worth twice the price..

i must be gettin thin skined in my old age..just hooked up a fairly new rat shack radio i keep around here for legal purposes and its way noisier than the 2970n2..it did say in the manual that they did some improvments to the recieve..anyways,,im still lookin into a dsp speaker..

as long as the 29xx use a cpu there will always be white noise. the recive mod wont change it at all. if you want the rock solid revice and quite as well as most of the 29xx functions buy a hr2510 or lincoln. prob the best ssb and reciever of any export ever made.

Just get yourself the Clearspeech speaker like Dealer mention. It will work really good on the N2 - how do I know? It's because I have ALL THREE and they all work great on all the 2900 models.

And if that dosnt work, I can fill your order for a HR2510 :) How about a New one that
has never seen a mobil and 100 percent stock except for Expanded.

Might even include a Turner Plus Three desk mike so that original hand mike can stay in
the bag it came in...

I am farsighted ! cant see orange displays, but a trade for green might work also.

Oh man, I would love to have that. "Love to have" and "Need to have" are two different things though!

For use with my 2510 I picked up a Timewave DSP-9 off of Ebay for about $50 dollars. Then I spent another ten or so at Rat Shack on cables to hook it to a small Bose speaker. The DSP-9 can also help test your radio as it offers selectable 2 tone output in one mode. I use it with the AGC off and have done the squelch mod to the 2510.
When the band is open you can find me around 28.3-28.550 usb
