I been out of radios 24 years can someone exsplain this mod,I have read a little about it is it a final up grade?? Thanks

Correct,
This is a replacement for the driver/final transistor. But there is more to it than just replacing the transistors. With the decline of manufactures making bipolar transistors you will continue to see more and more MosFet mods. Some radios are fairly easy to do while others require a lot of component replacement.
They are also higher output than the stock finals. The radios I have installed MOSFETs in do 10-12W dead-key and over 40W PEP.
