Ok just for fun I figured I would start a thread on how abused your HT is.

Here are a few Pictures of my VX-7R which I purchased when they were first released. Its been through the ringer for sure. I have lost the 6m antenna extension and the charger took a crap while I was in Iraq 2006/2007. The radio has the open band MOD and worked well while I was in Iraq. I used it to scan in VFO and had my Interpreter tell me what was being said on the radio.

It still works Great, although the weather module with Baro / Temp / Elev doesn't seem to be very accurate any more. The screen has a few scratches and as you can see the finish is in pretty tough shape, but the button labels are still visable. The bare aluminum has some oxidation on it from sitting in a damp basement after a flood.

I am still considering a new VX-8DR and even found a few used ones, but those people are NUTZ they want more for a used one that the cost of NEW. Cheapest I have seen is $379 for the DR .

Anyway Happy Memorial Day and lets see some pictures of those beat up HT's

My IC-T7H I've had for over 10 years. It has fallen off of a three-story roof onto concrete -- twice. Once off of two-story roof into bushes. Run over by a car once.

The BNC assembly is shot to all hell and back. Screws are missing. Have to use pliers to get an antenna on and off. The ribbon cable on the inside is held together and in place with super-glue, rubber cement, and some other adhesive.

Breathed new life into this unit as it is the transmitter on my Elk Arrow tripod-mounted satellite station!!

My VX-8R is in perfect, pristine condition.

**EDIT** -- that should read, "two story onto concrete twice, three story into the bushes once". Still a tough rig!! My experience with the T7H is what made me an "icom guy".

I guess we are the only 2 that beat up our HT's .. I'm taking a ride up to HRO in Salem NH tomorrow and will most likely leave with a new VX8DR

Wow, I guess he didnt want anyone tracking him on APRS ..

Thats not what they meant when they said it was dual band (saw)

Ok anyone interested in making me an offer on this Radio. Its about a 3 on the finish and exterior condition. But it works flawlessly..

The original charger fried, but I did make one up with a power supply, I also have the manual and a home made programming cable that works great with the VX-7 Commander software. Battery is about 6 months old and will run the radio for about 9 hours of light use. Entertaining any realistic offers.

I;ll post this in the For Sale area if none of you fellow abusers are interested..

LMA:LOL:!! That looks like a piece of history what are you asking???

Well it does have some history to it, spent a year in Mosul Iraq.

I would take $75 and what ever the flat rate USPS shipping is, I think its $4.95 ..

I have 2 other HT's and this one just sits now.
