STICK WITH 5'-6' FRANCES FIBERGLASS WHIP OR 102'' STEEL WHIP

Hello fellow cb'ers I'm thinking about getting a steel whip but I don't know if it will get me better tx/rx or not my frances tx/rx is pretty good now just wanting to be the loudest on the block right. I'm playing on a galaxy 949 with a blue face galaxy 225 that d/k 60-110 watts and swings 110-315 watts lo,med, high according to my local cb tech so any thoughts will help me with knowing if it will be worth the $20 or so for the 102'' steel whip thanks guy's.
my 2 cents.first off no galaxy 225 with 2sc1446s and crappy components is going to do 315 watts unless maybe in pep watts so whatever it will do on ssb is what it will do and am will be about half of that most likely.second the 102 is tried and true at 8.5 feet a full 1/4 wave you cannot beat the performance with any electrical 1/4 wave or so.many halve tried to beat the performance of the 102 with coil antennas and it never works out,for the 20 bucks of the cheap 102 you should see not only better receive but much better tx also.good luck and 73s.

Well 1342 I appreciate your 2 cents I'm not sure what crappy equiptment your refering to but I don't believe I have any crappy equiptment and if I'm ready your post right you are calling my setup shit and that's not so polite but I would never call someones setup shit.I guess that's why we are all different right. So as far as the wattage is concerned I'm not sure if my local cb guy had his metter on avg. or pep but with the 1446's are really good transistors and I have seen them swing damn near 400watts on avg. So this my 2 cents I am not here to bash anyone or their equiptment and if I have misinterpreted your post then I am truly sorry but it sounded just as I took it.Merry Christmas and Happy NEW Year to you and the rest of the fellow cber's.

Also remember that the Francis antenna does not handle very much watts at all, 250-300wts. max on a 5'. also the Francis is not that great for SSB usage. I have tried many different mobile antennas and the 102" whip and the Bronco buster gave me the best results. JMHO
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Do you travel on I94?

I've spoken to a driver going by the handle of "hitek rednek" on two separate occasions.

I run about 600 watts everyday into a francis whip with no problems, I use one on my daily driver. If all of your ducks are in a row should be no problem.
What makes them not good for SSB? Just wondering.
