I'm looking for a NEW base station linear that has built in power supply. Something I can plug into the wall.

around the 200-350 watt range. is there anything in production?

Be carfull what you get,you will splatter your niebors bad.Find a good,i repeat good Mavrick 250 or Phantom500...stay away from the maco300,and the nitro300...if you have niebors you will realy get to know them...hehe...73s JW

what kind of antenna will you be using ?
is a clean SSB signal important to you ?
what kind of radio/drive are you gonna put in front of it ?

I always like Xforce amps, but what does it mean "Driver Required: N/A"? Does that mean I can drive it with a standard 4 watt CB?

I like my Fatboy but thought about a X force when I was looking. RM Italy does make them but I have not found a seller of the base units but also have not looked too hard for one either. And it is true that no matter what you run it seems interference is notorious with all amps. I don't run mine until after 9pm. I know my neighbors very well and was informed by my closest neighbor that I interfere with her radio. She just asked that I don't use my "intercom as she called it" between 7-9pm as she listens to church on her radio. She is home bound and elderly. All other neighbors say they have never heard me! I'm sure Booty or Marconi could send you in the right direction.;)

Im not sure if you can still get them, but the Boomer Deluxe 35 amp base station power supply is a pretty good bang for your buck. It has hi med low controls, pre amp, and automatic ssb crossover. (I think thats right about the ssb?) Anyways I bought one new a couple years ago either through copper electronics, or h & y electronics. When i say it has a built in power supply i mean it has (1) power supply for the amplifer itself and you can also hook up anoter radio amp ect. to the external posts located on the front of the amp/power supply combo. This is a pill type amp, but again its all about what your looking for. As far as tupe type amps I have 4 or 5 maco tube types and also a maveric 250 tube type and they all perform great. Tubes and upkeep on those however are prone to be very costly.
Hope this helps!

A buddy of mine has a 350HD Texas Star, turned up he makes interference 5 channels up and five channels down.

I find Ameritron amps a little too "hammy"

Hey BammBamm, I've heard good things about FatBoy's, as they don't get as hot as the other amps.

I got a little one pill Xforce from "Mr. One Stop" in the Chicago Area, does great, the preamp no longer works...still works after all the hell and abuse I put it thru in the mobile environment(we shall leave the details fuzzy.)
