A Very Rare Find...

For all the info needed, contact Expert Electronics, Ask for John Boy, nuff said.

You can find them on fleabay also. They have a lot of old Maco parts and such. Not sure if they have any parts for a Wawasee amp as that factory closed long before Maco did. Of course a lot of them will interchange.
The JB 700's I have worked on also had one tube driving three, instead of all three being tied together. This may have added to them being less stable also. They were kind of like the Maco Brute Seventy-Five, there is no way that they actually do the wattage that is shown on the meter.....I understand harmonics and such also. But they sure did impress some folks.

...The Amp does what I need for it to do, I proved my point. Apparently YOU think I have several High Powered Amps lying around that will knock out 1 KW, I wish THAT were the case. But...I DO NOW ! (y)
I think that you're just jealous..'cause some lowly 'ol CB'er has something
that YOU don't have. I learned a valuable lesson from my visit to this forum.
I thought I was among folks that could & would provide me with valuable
information and know-how through their experience, a few have done just that. But mostly it's been negative comments, calling ME a LIAR, etc. This
just brings out your character.
........On the other hand.....YOU have succeeded with whatever your plan was.
I do not feel welcome here..must be because I'm "Just a LOWLY CB'er".
I'll vacate my position on this forum, and go back where I know I am comfortable.
For the OTHERS that took their time to email me with their gracious comments, I really appreciate the kind words, and agree that it's a shame that ONE OR TWO individuals do a lot more harm than they do good.
And as for ONE member in particular..you know who it is.......
KISS MY AZZ !

While I haven't read this whole thread I agree with the idea that you could be measuring harmonics, which will cause your readings to be higher than they really are. Rather than pouting about your supposed bad treatment, wouldn't it be better to acknowledge the criticism and do some research to see if the criticism is warranted? Perhaps some of these folks really *do* have a clue what they're talking about, in which case it might be prudent to have a listen..

Obviously there are some missing posts here or something, because your rant seems an odd reaction based on what I can see in this thread presently.

There aren't any missing posts...I restored them all.

Oh well WTF here it goes. How do you know that the people that [slash]sucked up to you[/slash] agreed with you were the right ones and those that tried to set you straight were wrong? Ego perhaps? Have you seen the comments from others that ran the same amp? Ever see what a real honest to goodness 1 KW amp has for tubes and power transformer? I guess not. Believe what you want too and the rest shall believe the truth. As for being a dumb old CB'er, remember you called yourself that. Nobody else did. :pop:

http://frank.pocnet.net/sheets/084/m/M2057.pdf

Above is the data sheet for the M2057 tubes. They have 40 watts of plate dissipation each for a total of 120 watts.Typical operation results in twice that in usuable RF output or about 250 watts. Running the shit out of them may yield 400 watts with lots of harmonics. A pair of 572B tubes typically produce 600 watts output with 330 watts of plate dissipation.Maybe 800 watts when pushed hard and with a highly efficient tank circuit.

I don't care if you wear ruby slippers and click your heels three times and wish all you want too, that amp will not make an honest 800 watts with three M2057's. If it does what you want to then fine but don't try and convince US that know better that it is making the numbers you think it is. I have run tube transmitters and amps in commercial broadcasting for 22 years and I personally do know a few things about tubes specs and operations BTW. You just cannot rewrite the laws of physics.

I had seen the amp on e bay, and said damn it looks clean, read the ad and said to myself, ok well same grain of salt, the general thing is that most of us said it was a nice little amp.
The deal is.... its nice, and it uses tubes that are rare by todays standards...so...baby it, and do not ask the tubes to work hard at all and it will be around for a few years to enjoy playing radio on.
If you beat them tubes up, they wont last long.
I like tube stuff to, but to be honest as the supply of tubes dry`s up they are getting crazy $$ for them.
Don`t feel like you are a one handed man at the shootout at OK corral, not meant to be that way.
If it gets the job done , good deal.
Just please do not melt the tubes in it trying to do something they were never meant to do.
A lot of us here were/are just "CB`ers, so no one is giving you the dumb cb thing, most of us have already melted our lifetime supply of tubes already......

Even I myself have had some plates glowing the same colour as the filaments on the odd occasion. Those 6KD6's are tough but nothing glows like an 833C on the brink of self destruction. (y)

I used to have a Browning Mark III exactly like that with a night eagle mic and a homebrew quad-6LQ6 box. Absolutely awesome radio! I regret selling mine years ago, but I long ago sold all of my CB gear to focus on amateur radio and my business. Been considering getting back on 11m, but I've still got a few things left to buy in terms of ham gear before I'll start back on CB. But I was a "dumb CBer" for many years (to use the title you gave yourself). Unlike many hams I have respect for CB both because I see it often as a gateway to getting an amateur license, and because it can be a fun and educational pastime just like ham radio is.
