Can anyone tell me where the ping capacitor for the mark III ssb, or tell me why I have a real short chirp or a almost dead bird sound ??

What do I look for ??

cap

Hi the cap ypu need to replace is in the reciver remove bottom cover it should be in the right front corner stock cap for this is a 40mfd 250 volt elrolitic you can put a larger cap like a 60 mfd for a longer squeel but it is hard on things. Ben

it is in the receiver
replace R56 2.2K 1/2w with a 2.2K 2w
replace C66 20mfd 450v with a 100mfd 450v

You think a big part is because I'm using the stock banana mic ??
I guess they pinged fine back then, right ??

Will a amplified d104 work ok with these things.
I know a lot of people use un amplified d104's.
I'm far from green about mics and radios, just never ran an Eagle.
I'm referring to a Mark III specifically......

This Radio is perfect,,, was in the plastic and foam in the boxes
Never had the covers off, and from the original owner.

I would like to think there is nothing wrong with it,
but I can understand what time does to parts.

CAPS

capacitors dry out with age.the radio is at lest 35 years old. Mine was built in 1975 and i had to replce it 10 yeas ago. do some resurch on eletrolictics caps. look on this forum, I think nomad did a whole deal on recapping these old Birds. Ben
