hello,
i have some questions about this pair. i got a set of these the other day with no relay in the transmitter, completely missing. i was hoping someone would know the replacement number for this or a substitute number. i have found replacements for about 30-40 bucks, but i have a box of old relays and hoping i may have one in there. the transmitter will not power up, no lights at all. i am assuming because of the relay missing. i didnt look into it much, but figured someone here would know.
now on the receiver, it will light but no rx. all tubes light, meter goes to the full scale right side, with no white noise or meter movement after warmup. (3-5 minutes) it appears that the receiver would work without the transmitter, so that is a question too. im leaning towards the 2 smaller metal nuvistors under the cage. 6DS4, btw is 6CW4 a direct replacement? i have read that these are one of the first things to look at when there is no rx. like i said these are kinda new to me so please be kind. i know nothing about this set. so i just dont want to dump a load into these just to find out they are bad anyway. i know they are old and it takes alot of cash to get them to perform to todays standards.
thank you

well these definately have tubes. tx and rx. according to the schematics they are supposed to have tubes. unless the schematics on cbtricks were mislabeled or something. maybe im wrong tho, i never was too good at reading those things.
thanks for the reply.
merry christmas to all

ok with no transmitter hooked in line, just the receiver only. shouldnt i get receive if all is correct?

You have to short two conections in the female plug on back of receiver where the xmtr usually plugs into it,bad news is i forget which two,if i get a chance will look at mine to see. Regards warlock35po
