Antenna in the wind...

I finally got my first antenna in the wind. (y)

The Antron 99 is about 30 - 40 feet above ground level. Mast and antenna alone are 27 feet and the bottom of the mast ends just below the crest of my roof. Given that, I'm guessing 30 feet ground to bottom of antenna and then 17 feet of antenna. It was challenging but I'm really happy I was able to set it all up by myself.

Where are the required pics? :D

I was just finishing it all up as the sun went down. As soon as I get good daylight in the morning, I will go out and get a few pics and post them here. The only thing left to do inside the shack is to solder the other PL-259 onto the coax.

Alright. Here are a few pictures of the antenna and what I call my "shack" for now. I still don't have a tuner yet but have one on the way. Its supposed to be here tomorrow. So far all I can pick up is some CW on the higher bands and very weak voice spread throughout 10 - 40 meters. Of course I'm still learning how to use my radio so I am more than likely missing a whole lot.

Is the coax running up the chimny? If so I hope it is temperary, I think it is not a good idea to keep it there if it is. Just trying to help. Good luck with your shack, it does not take long to collect equipment and grow grow grow lol.

Outstanding Pete!

Now, just two suggestions...

1. Make sure you "ground" (antenna) that puppy.

2. I didn't see your Log Book on your desk.

This morning I ran a ground wire from the pole down to the grounding at my electrical box. I wasn't completely sure how to ground the antenna itself. I have a notepad on the right side of my desk for now. So far I have not been able to do anything without a tuner and hopefully it will be here tomorrow.
