Starting out.

There is no age limit. The only requirement is that you pass the exam. The ARRL and W5YI both offer study guides that cover the particular license class you are trying to obtain. There are also online practice exams that you can take in preparation for the exam such as the one at QRZ. Do yourself a favor though and learn the material instead of just memorizing the answers. The knowledge gained will come in handy as you progress into the hobby. Good luck with your studies and exams.

... what he said, ditto! It may seem kind'a daunting to start, but that's only cuz you're not familiar with it yet.
Have fun!

Yep !! Study all you can ... and go for the general class ticket while you are at it...get a good portion of all bands with general class (y)

and welcome ot the board !!

The Ft-7900R is a solid unit for shack or veh...I just bought one....
As far as the BR-180 goes it doesn't give any info on it as far as hight(did a quick search),you should be at least 27" tall with a dual band antenna.....

I can say the MFJ-1729 is a good dual band mag mount,I have the 1729 and it works good for me,the closest repeaters are 25 + miles away from me and I can hit them, can't wait to get into bigger cities like Minneapolis area were I know it will really shine.

Ok must of over looked it,I had surgery yesterday on my arm and a little out of it,i have been up now for 27 hours, cant fall asleep..............Antenna looks like it should be just fine.

You can just hook it up to a car battery thats what I do...I use a power supply in my shack it keeps the Amps at 13.8 and has a noise offset, you can also switch it over to Volts and ajust the volts..I have the PS30SW II.........
I got the FT-7900R mounted in my F250 about a hour ago but still need to figure how to run the power or have a Shop do it..........Give me a sec and I'll take a pic and post it..
be right back.....
