I did some trading,picked up a Siltronix 1011d and a Siltronix 1011c...and a Yeasue ft227r...all are in mint but dirty shape,been in Attic since 1977...hehe.Will be playing with them alot in the next few weeks.Hope to hear you on 28420usb....im south of St Louis Missouri 60 miles.I know trhey drift and are junk but they are fun to run,i have four of them now.The Siltronix 1011c will be my 12 and 10 mtr radio i think....73s de n0zna/2w1267 John
 

12 meters on a 1011? That is what I was wondering as well...The D model that I had was 10 meters out of the box,and was fairly easy to mod for 11,and believe it or not,the book on those radios said they could be set up for mobil use.

I do know there is/was an external VFO that you could get from Siltronix but I dont remember what frequency range the VFO added...been to many blurry years ago

If you can get those Siltronix radios up and running as they should be,they are a fun radio to run...they are very hands on ,a neat experience
 
yes they do,

have 3 siltronix 1011ds and one siltronix 1011c...and two vfos....they are a heck of a 28mhz radio,been running one for years on 11mtrs till 1993 then 10 mtrs till now....i hang out on 28420 from 1800z or so till 0400z then go to 3916lsb...73s from Jeffco Missouri de JW
 
Some of them old tube rigs were definately damn near a 2 man operation the way they drifted. I could imagine running one mobile let alone it would fill the entire passenger seat LMAO!! Oldes rig I own is a old 2 meter rig its a Yaesu FT-225RD all mode base rig 25 watts out 144.000 - 147.000 but it has the tone board box to get into the repeaters it is fun to run and has a goofy Yaesu YD-148 4 pin base mic.
