2sc2166c

Those are fake 2sc2166's Robb.on a genuine 2sc2166 the c2166 is across the middle, it also has two small triangular plastic bits between the component leads.

The one Mack linked too shows a picture of a genuine 2sc2166 but that doesn't neccessarly mean its what they have in stock, the whole world is flooded with fake 2sc2166,2sc1969 and 2sc2312 amongst many others.

CA CB Radios Plus has a pretty decent record out here.
Never got stiffed yet.

I don't doubt it, but i can only go by the pic on their website and the 2sc2166 in their pic is definately fake. They won't be the only previously reliable dealer to have been stiffed with fakes, the uk is full of them.

i can assure you Robb those are fake, compare the pic to the one on Mack's link which definately isn't fake and you'll see the differences.on most fakes they are easy to spot but on some are more subtle.i've got enough of the 3 mitsubishi 27 mhz rf transistors to know what originals look like.

just my personal opinion here, but any dealer selling them either knows they are fake (most cases) or is too dumb to be selling rf parts. The good news is if you buy them on e bay you'll always get refunded as they now protect you from buying counterfeit goods and the seller doesn't get them returned to sell onto another unsuspecting buyer.

Considering transistor currently in production that can meet the required specifications...

Such as 2SD882, is the same NPN with sufficient voltage and current ratings for the power level to 50ohms. And transition frequency sufficiently high enough for CB. But the package is slightly different, and may require care of mounting screw size (#4 vs #6 ?), and leads slightly bent outwards.
