ICOM R-100: Why bother firing it up?

I have an Icom R-100 scanner, it receives 100 khz to 1856 Mhz. with no blocks. It is 20 years old, it works, but should I bother hooking it up again? I don't know how many signals are digital now, so I don't know if it would be worth my time/money to hook up an antenna. I know that I would have to replace the lithium (memory) battery. It is a good receiver. Would it be worth my time and money to get a decent antenna and use this Icom R-100 again? Or am I wasting my time with an outdated, analog receiver?

Perhaps a good reason is that you want to know what's 'there' and listen to it? If that isn't worth your time and trouble, then you don't need that receiver, do you?
You decide.
