antenna question about dc grounding

I suppose you could use them on a 20-30 foot mast if you feel it is vulnerable to taking a hit. If you want to make your own I suggest some short pieces of stainless steel cable. It does not have to be heavy cable. I make some from 1/8 or 3/16 stainless steel cable. I take a piece 12 inches long or so and fold it in half using a crimp type cable clamp to hold things in place. This makes a loop in the end to use to mount it. I then fray out ALL the individual pieces in all directions.
 
Something you might look into are the brushes used by chimney sweeps and some pipeline crews. Different sizes, but I've gotten several about the size of a volly-ball. these happen to have a threaded bolt on the end. Honestly don't have any idea what kind of metal the 'bristles' are, but they are metal.

Some are a nylon type material meant for stainless steel liners in chimneys so make sure you get the metal ones.

wow i didnt think i would have gotten so many post , well currently on the antenna i have a lightning arester at the coiaxial contention at the antenna i also have # 4 sloid ground wire running from the ubolt at the the base of the antenna and also put a ground clamp at the base of the antenna mast all run to a 5/8x10ft ground rod my qustion next would be when i get my new antenna maco v5000 would this be ample protection also to the bottom of the antenna its about 18 ft so add the length of the antenna to the tip might be around 40 ft high .

my antenna now has an inline coaxial cable lightning arrester that screws into the bottom the antenna , i also have #4 solid ground wire connected to the u bolt that hold the antenna to mast that runs down the mast to a ground clamp about 2 feet from the bottom of mast were i have a short peice of #4 solid ground wire run to a 5/8 x 10 foot ground rod also have a second ground rod 6 foot in the oppiste direction is this a correct grounding method and will this also work with the new antenna im getting the v5000 aluminum antenna thanks guys joe haas jr kd2aag
