FTM-350R vs TM-D710A: Which Should I Get?

You're right, but Kenwood has had a couple of years 'head start' with APRS. Yaesu/Icom are catching up though. The FTM-350 has had some 'birthing pains' and an up-grade or two, they'll get it right... eventually. ;)

And before I forget...again.
I'd better make a correction about what I said about the connecting cable(s) of a TM-D710.
They are not the same as telephone cable, but are 8 conductors. I had another radio that did use the telephone 4 conductor cable to connect the control head to the radio body, and I sometimes get them mixed up. The mic cable is 8 conductor also. I've shuffled four radios between car and house lately and also swapped cars. Some where in all that shuffling I got the cables mixed up. Not a good excuse for making a mistake about it, but it's the only one I got. Sorry 'bout that.

I went with the 710 primarily because of the exposed TNC and the digipeater built in.
As far as the connecting cables, I picked up a lan cable I had laying around and used that to connect to the head. It hasn't picked up any interference that I can hear. The included Kenwood filters were a lot harder to put on this thicker cable but doable :p

I have the d710a aprs feels outdated and boring to me. The rig is just not what I need or feel for. Im getting the ftm350 cause it has more features. Multiple color display gps barometer....id like the ic2820 but its beyond my budget atm. And the accessories like gps is expencive.
