One of the mods I see listed for the Emperor is to cut r247 for more modulation. Is this a good mod to do or not? I see my radio has this resistor already cut loose.

no absolutely not. theres a vr adjustment for that. they are labeled inside
cause im currently using one myself. these radios arent known for baring audio
like connex, styker, magnum. but they are one of the best ssb exports imho

It had already been clipped so I re-soldered it back. That just works for am modulation doesn't it? I hate finding clipped things like that. I was pissed when I found the alc clipped in my 2510. I sent it for alignment and it came back modified. I did not ask for that and put it back. I also see another mod on my 2510 and not sure if it is factory or not, if I took a picture of it can anyone tell me what it is, factory mod or some golden screw driver work. A big trace cut and a cap added so it looks maybe factory but not sure. A golden tweaker probably would not be smart eneough to add a cap.

Glad you resoldered that as this is my radio now, what I heard is if you clip it there can become a carrier on sideband.

I am not a fan of clipping things. I soldered it back and turned the alc back to about 20 or 25 watts if I remember right. I had quite a few contacts one day with that radio all over the country when a 10 meter contest day was going. Had nothing but good reports back also.
