Bad CB Shops

The talkback mod he might be talking about could be what older Galaxy & Connex radio's usually need. Magnum came out with the all mod variable talkback and newer Galaxy radio's have it too now.

CB shops can be hit or miss. One person can have a great experience and the next hates them.

There really isn't a shop that has never gotten a bad review from someone but some people are always negative so you have to take some reviews with a grain of salt.

I've bought lots of stuff online, Copper, GI Joes, HY Electronics, etc and I've actually never had a problem with anyone. Must just lucky.

This site lists shops and talks more about them - BEST CB RADIO SHOP

After careful review of all threads on all forums dealing with good/bad CB shops and reviewing the White/black lists I have come to the conclusion that every Cb shop there is is without a doubt the best/worst, most honest/worst ripoff, with the friendliest/nastiest staff.

Well I myself have always and always will go to Chucks CB Shop on I-40 at the 126. He's very reasonable and very honest. I've been going to him for about 6-7 years and I have NO complaints.

Lol notice that they ALWAYS put a sticker over the screws on the radio that says "removing this sticker voids warranty". They put that on the radio where you won't open the radio and see it's a hacked up job. One of my buddies bought one from them just because he knew someone who kept on talking how good they are so he tried one. I think it was a RCI2970N2??? Anyways he got the "SUPER WACK PACK". IT COST $700 DOLLARS!!!!!!! BIGGEST RIPOFF!!! He said he did 45 min keydowns because he wanted to see what it was made of. He said he sold it that night because he said he didn't need a radio that expensive.

My bad experience was at Mr. CB in the Oak Grove MO Petro. Exit 28 on I-70. I ask Jim to drop the dead key on my Uniden so I could run a Palomar on it. No peak and tune. No adding in roger beeps or echo boards. Just turn down the dead key from 4 watts to 1 watt so I could run my 2 pill amp without over driving it.

After Jim did his thing and I got my radio back and hooked up, every trucker said my radio sounded like garbage. Interesting I thought...every trucker around recommended Mr. CB. So I took it home and opened it up. I found the modulation limiter was clipped and the coils were spread. :censored:

I later confronted Jim in person, and he tried to sell me a b.s. story of "that's the proper way to drop the dead key on a Uniden". :headbang:rolleyes: Lesson learned, never to let Jim at Mr. CB ever touch my radios ever again. He clearly has no idea the sole purpose of a modulation limiter.

What's more is since then there have been other complaints of this hacknicians work since my visit.

I bought a rci 29702n in May from the shop in Kentucky name starts with a C ends with r Paid for the alignment. Radio never worked right, Even my 50 amp Astron power supply wasn't enough to power it. Sent it to Ranger for warranty, They said they have never seen one so far out of alignment. Surprisilingly nothing was damaged. They did a total alignment on it. Got it back yesterday. Never worked this good.
