Smoking crack and Ebay prices....

I have seen people make post`s that say:

" if you want to know what it is worth, go search on E-Bay and see what they are selling for"

The correct post should be:

If you want to know what mindless auction crazy idiots will pay for something, go search on E-bay"

And that mentality has found its way into hamfests. Junk with ebay prices. :banghead:

Well it sold for $225 plus $25 S&H.
I remember watching a 1980 Ford Pinto with 75,000 on it, supposedly, and it sold for $5700.
1980 Vintage Ford Pinto!
75,000 original miles, single owner, no visible rust and an Arizona car.
Ebay is quite entertaining.

That's double what the car cost new...My first New car was a 1975 Pinto Hatchback...It was a P.O.S. from day one.

I just bought a NICE Cobra 142 GTL, (unmolested and STOCK in every way!!!!!) a TX Star 400 (older pre 1990s version) 45 amp power supply, 2 1/2 wave base antennas, all for $100.00................
I found this all on Craigslist... :)

Thats still high for that radio. I have the very same radio and I gave $50.00 for it....

sometimes certain things have a special meaning for certain people. so what one person thinks is a crazy price for something' dosen't really matter to the person buying it.

You got a deal forsure.

One most people are stupid when it comes to drinking, gampling or buying this with out fixed prices!!! Why? They do not determine the value of the item to them before they place their first bid so they have no limit. I always knew how many drinks I would have before I went out to a party and that number was usually 2. Like wise I know what I am willing to pay and set the limit before I bid on ebay or before I go to a car dealership!

When someone is not able to walk away from a deal they have already lost because they have too much emotional attachment to what ever it is they are looking to buy!

A lot of older men especially now have no bills but plenty of income from pension, 401K, investments etc........Two things kill them time and time again at auctions. 1) They see something they wanted as a kid but could not afford. 2) Pride and Ego will not let them lose the auction they have to win. These 2 things almost always are the source of idiots paying 3/4 the cost of a new item for a used item that is not even in that great of shape as in "as-is".

One of my first companies was buying up medical supplies from Federal and State Surplus normally military. People always older retired men would get into bidding wars on boats, beat up government car's and trucks and guns taken from poacher's. It was pathetic to watch.

My Dad would call those people " People with more money then brains!" and I would have to agree.

I also worked in sales on more then one occasion and I can tell you that we meaning all people in sales want people to buy on emotions not on logic and facts!

You are correct though then you have greedy lister's that think they have yardsale/salvation army Gold and try to list an Old like new item for some insane amount. Like someone else said not everything that is old is collectible! LOL

Yes but sentimental value does not translate into a price for someone unrelated to that sentiment! What do I care if it belonged to someones Grandfather? Everything has belonged to someone and all someones are important to some other person on this earth. So everything has sentimental value to some that does not mean a darn thing! All that matter is what the market will pay for something and how quickly you can get cash out of your objects!
