Its as big as a zippo light,just about the same size,and the thing amazes me.I on the 5th highest hill in Missouri,and i can hit repeaters 30 miles away in my house with rubber duck antenna...It is a nightmare to program without software and cable,but for 60 with shipping,ya cant beat it with software and cable...will by one for son and grandson soon...i would give it a 9 out of a 10...and also have dropped it twice and once was going into basement and it hit the concreat...73 de JW late note,it has a flash light mode also...hehe

You say you can get into repeaters 30 miles away....I have trouble getting into the local repeater at 18 miles....the other is about 9 miles I can get into but everyone says I sound scratchy. That's on both UHF and VHF.

I figure it was the stock antenna. I have a 17" replacement on the way.

p.s. I noticed the LED flash light, have yet to figure out how to work it.

Before you buy more of those for your kids, check out the TYT-UV3r. It's the same size, but miles better - and it has a numeric keypad on the face! I did a review of it in the review section.

(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)Im glad you like that one cuz I just ordered the Baofeng UV5-R off amazon.com & i paid $60.00 for it & its a dual band 2M/70CM 440Mhz ham radio & its a 4/1Watt transceiver with the keypad on the front which hasnt arrived yet & im anxiously waitin on it cuz im gonna use it for GMRS/FRS/MURS Frequencies (Once I Get My GMRS Ticket) and i was thinkin bout buying the Baofeng BF-888S for my fiance to talk back to me on. I have the Motorola Talkabout MS350R FRS/GMRS (Bubble Pack) radios that are repeater capable & im hittin repeaters that are 60+ Miles away but where i live is low terrain & cant talk out from my apartment so im going for something stronger.

NOTE: I was at my parents house which is on elevated ground when i was hitting them repeaters 60 miles away & the towers are 250 Feet tall on a mountain.

Heres my current radios--> Motorola Talkabout MS350R FRS/GMRS 2-Way Radios (2-Pack): Walkie-talkie (2-way) radios | RadioShack

Heres the newest purchase---> Amazon.com: Two-Way Radio BAOFENG UV-5R Professional FM Transceiver Dual Band Frequency Protable Radio: Electronics

Heres my future Purchase(s)----> Amazon.com: Walkie Talkie 2-Way 16CH 3W Radios Transceiver Handheld Interphone Intercom BF-888S W/built-in 1500MAh Li-ion battery- Support 8 hours: Electronics

Wow! Do you have a side by side photo of radio and zippo lighter I can't believe the radio is that small?

Hey guys, Jen here again (Ryan09's wife)I have another question.
If I understand correctly can these radios be used on GMRS, FRS, and MURS simply by programming in those frequencies?
Right now we have these cheap little $20.00 walkie talkies and they are not very good.
Is there anywhere online where I can learn more?
I hope you guys don't mind me asking this stuff!
