Wow! Motormouth mall is hammering my northern Michigan radio at 100% modulation on 27.125. That man has one of the cleanest sounding stations I have ever heard regardless of the equipment used.

MAUL. mall is where you shop. MAUL is what you hammer with. how do we know he's modulating at 100%?
and yes his audio is pretty good.
sorry....i'm bored :) no power or internet all week, i'm stealing some wifi in a shopping center & catching up on some antagonizing

His great radio voice and pleasant disposition on top of that pro gear does indeed make him fun to listen to. He has his own web site that gives a quick run down of his station. Pretty cool.

 You Sir, are correct...I hate when that happens. Lets chalk it up to a typo and move on shall we??? 100% modulation ? I say it was so the burden of proof is on you to prove otherwise and being a self admitted thief <gotproof> :laugh:that may prove hard to do.

When I talk to MMM, I see him running well over 100% modulation on the positive peaks. All you need to see that is the simplest of oscilloscopes connected through a cap to the IF stage of your receiver, just in front of the detector stage. Then you'll be able to see the received stations carrier and modulated envelope just like you would while monitoring your TX.

Those who have an interest in Hi-Fi should know there are many way to skin this cat that range from quite expensive, to near no cost at all. You can take a 10 to 25 watt PA amp with a pair of 70 volt line transformers back to back to match the impedance of almost any AM radios modulation transformer from a Cobra 25 up. Add an EQ and you're well on your way to Hi-Fi.

i'm easy, i'll buy the typo story :)
100% modulation? a trained ear can tell. shockwave used a trained eye to confirm what i already knew. mmm is on cb. i don't care who he is. it's over 100%.
i never said he doesn't sound good :)

Friday, I heard motor mouth maul on 27.025 (channel 6). Yes indeed this guy has probably the best sounding station I have heard, and quite possibly the most powerful too. In fact here I am in Missouri, this guy is in California, I turn the squelch on my radio fully CW and HE STILL breaks thru my squelch threshold?:blink::unsure:

Holy shit batman, sounds like he's a mile away and clear as a bell.

But OTOH, while I commend him on the clean, clear and strong signal, I must also say he sounded a lot like the fools on 6 that like to keep repeating their selves, laughing like a goof ball, and all the other assorted kid shit you hear on the bowl.

I guess I am happy I missed that broadcast, MMM and 611 in Spokane are the two I enjoy listening to the most as they do not usually lend themselves to the usual antics that seem to run rampant on the bowl.

Thanks for the link!(y)

And he's a kick to chat with on the phone. We wore out each other's ear for 2 hours a couple years ago and I'm looking forward to trying out his Mauldulator, I hope by this coming Spring.

I wonder what the RCA & Collins boys on 80m AM will have to say about my audio

There is another big hitter out of the central coast of California that goes by 49.

I live in Arizona and their skip usually goes right over the top of me so I don't get to hear them much. But when the conditions are just so, I never miss the chance to talk to them.

Both 49 and MMM are true class acts.

The mauldultor is a expensive setup......the pc with pro tools software and the new base station with the mauldulator installed and a o scope to get it all tuned up right....you will have a small fortune wrapped up in it.
