I was wondering if anyone can help me on the programming of this radio, I have the most recent software downloaded as well as the proprietary usb cable to connect the radio. It comes with very sparse information on programming the radio. In the software there is a pull down menu with two frequency ranges, one is for 10 meter only, the second (extended frequency) includes 10 meter, 11 meter and some of the "free band". when I hook up the computer and start the software the radio "sees" the computer, so cable and driver are functioning properly, but when in extended frequency band I program the A band for 11 meters and band B through F for 10 meters, when I hit the write to radio I get a message that says "frequency band type is wrong". I had no problem writing to the radio in "10 meter " mode. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? How do I get this thing to program for 10 and 11 meters. I have a ham licence and want to use it as a 10 meter radio but I like to listen in on 11 meters, particularly channel 19 when I'm on the road

It seems that if you try to load and frequencies above 28305 which in the expanded mode the program hits a snag.
Try to install only 27mhz frequencies and see what happens.
Take a copy of what is on the radio so you can always reinstall it if required.
Save your programming before uploading or else it can be lost.

dd18, thanks for the tip, but if what you say is true that totally defeats the purpose of this radio as far as I'm concerned, I want to be able to use the phone portion of 10 meters which is above 28.300 and still be able to click down to listen in on 11 meters. If there is not a software fix I'm going to mad as I bought this radio to be able to talk on 10 and listen on 11 without having to reboot the radio and switch between 10 and 11 meters.

I did not go much further after I removed all sections above 28.305 and found it uploaded. I was hoping they would fix this. Two major deficiencies with the cree...any splits have to be programmed prior and no memories which makes it a bit more fiddly to use than the Optima or Ranger 29xx radios.
The Optima (and S-45/257 varients) automatically sets/saves the correct mode in the memories. Makes life a lot easier in the mobile...

Hmmm...not sure of the problem you're running in to but I've had no issue programming either of the 2 models I have (version 1 and version 2).
I can program 10 and 11 meters on one bank (A) and have the next bank (B) be only 11 meter and then have (c) be just 10 meter etc.
It definitely should work without a problem.
I think you need to try a couple of different things first.
1 # Can you write just 11 meter frequencies to the radio?
2 # Can you write just 10 meter frequencies to the radio?
Also there is a manual way to expand the radio by powering in while holding in buttons on the face. I think it might solve your problem if you do that expansion first and THEN try to connect to the computer and read from the radio and then write back to the radio.
I am having trouble remembering but I think you hold in func / scan/ emg together while powering on and then select Band B and then hold in the func key for a couple of seconds and then the screeen while show something else and you turn it off. Then when you turn it on again you should have the export frequencies.
I also read from the radio first and then go in and modify...that could be something else to try.

Thanks to the nice fellow who runs cb radio magazine on line I seem to have found the snag. He suggested that I manually enter the expanded frequency mode (band 2) when starting the radio, then once in this mode then connect the computer, this seems to be the step that got the software to download the 11 and 10 meter frequencies, thanks again for your help.

I know that your post was a while back, and I was also wondering if any one helped you I have bought a alnico dx-10 transceiver and have been trying to find programming software for it without a virus in the software. so could you please tell me where you got your software I would appreciate it thanks, tom wd8@sbcglobal.net
