What is a good 5/8 base antenna for a decent price?

Hy-Gain has re-issued the SPT-500 antenna. it's marketed as a 10-12 meter antenna, but it's almost the exact same antenna as the old SPT-500's from the 70s. They retail for about 150.00 new.

~Cheers~

Strictly CB radio?
Then; the Sirio 4000 is the best of the best at a very fair price.

Considering getting a Ham license in the near future?
Then; the Imax 2000. As it will work three ham bands AND the CB band as well . . .

The Super Penetrator 500 is an excellent 5/8 aluminum antenna. It has a higher input limit than Sirio’s GM, can be tuned from 10 to 12 meters and may be purchased for $139 thru special offers by Gigaparts. Get past Hy-Gain’s insulting marketing mumbo-jumbo (increased talk power) and you will be rewarded with a very good antenna. My subjective opinion is that the SPT-500 brings less noise and performs better than my old Imax.

how much does that mr.coily cost?

Well...That's one of those things "If ya have to ask, you probably couldn't afford it anyway" type deals.:D

He's proud of them at $500...But they are built like a tank, and if I had the money I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

One thing you need to consider, is what type of weather you have in your area...Around here we get allot of major type thunderstorms with high winds, tornado's, wind gusts of 50+ MPH is not that un-common. Which is why when I do decide to get my base antenna, I only want to have to buy it once, so I want the best-built one I can find...

Now I know, NO antenna is going to be able to handle something like a Tornado, but Coily's antenna should handle just about everything short of that...Plus it's rated at 20kw's....

You can check'em out at www.mrcoily.com He has all his antennas listed, and pictures.
