Magnum 257HP loses memory

I recently started having problems with my Magnum 257HP. It's currently set up for CON 3. However today I noticed when you switch the radio off at the on/off knob, it goes back to the default of 29.300 FM.

I did a search to see if there's a back up memory battery that needs replaced (similar to the RCI 2950's) but didn't see anything. Can anyone please let me know why this all the sudden has started and what can be done to fix it? The radio is only a year and a half old.

Thanks in advance.

A battery backup would be for a much older version, I doubt ANY of the HP version 257's have an old school battery back-up.

Yea that or you might try a CPU master re-set. If it still acts strange could be the capacitor that keeps the memory charged went bad or the CPU itself could be going bad.

Can you get it on to 11m OK from the front panel...function and hold call for a couple of secs I think..?
Hopefully the master reset will cure it.
Which is....???

The function and call procedure should not apply to the new 257HP, they now have a jumper that plugs into Con 1,2,3, or 4 for the conversion process.

Thought I'd give an update on this. So I found this radio acts just like it was on CON 2 when it's on CON 3 and I've tried resetting the radio.

So in other words I can turn it to 28.400 USB or whatever, push the select knob, hold #2 button and get to CB. Turn it off at the knob and quickly turn it back on and we're back to square 1 again...at least it says on 28.400 USB and not the default of 29.300 FM...

Yes I am sure. I am the one who did the work, and never had to push the function button and then #2 to go from 10 meters to CB.....until now.
