VK3 station on 2 meters?

On 2 meters thats highly unlikely but you could have been listening to a repeter that had a hf link.
Some repeaters have HF links and can hook up that way.. We had one that linked up to a 10 meter FM station in the Virgin Islands , it was great when there were good band conditions...
Like Robb said, could have been through echolink, I use it a bit from here and hookup with amateurs world wide with the program. I use my laptop, but at the other end it may be going through a linked repeater on 2mt or 70cm hooked up to a rig so you may have heard it that way.

I used to sit in my yard on 2 meters with a HT running 300mw and talk to HOOK, aka KD5VHF in texas all the time.
One of the Local guys had a low level machine on Echolink and all you had to do was punch in the node you wanted.
Loads of fun.

Heard a vk3 station working Texas this evening? Via my baofeng HT. How is that done? Anyone have a link to a site to explain this to a new ham? Was interesting at the close of his Qso's he closed the link? All new info for me?
