Heard a vk3 station working Texas this evening? Via my baofeng HT. How is that done? Anyone have a link to a site to explain this to a new ham? Was interesting at the close of his Qso's he closed the link? All new info for me? :pop:

Some repeaters have HF links and can hook up that way.. We had one that linked up to a 10 meter FM station in the Virgin Islands , it was great when there were good band conditions...

Like Robb said, could have been through echolink, I use it a bit from here and hookup with amateurs world wide with the program. I use my laptop, but at the other end it may be going through a linked repeater on 2mt or 70cm hooked up to a rig so you may have heard it that way.

I used to sit in my yard on 2 meters with a HT running 300mw and talk to HOOK, aka KD5VHF in texas all the time.
One of the Local guys had a low level machine on Echolink and all you had to do was punch in the node you wanted.
Loads of fun.
Who says you can not work across the pond on 2 meters?
