I'm looking for a speaker with a good high frequency cutoff. High frequency noise really bothers me and I find it difficult to listen to for a long period of time. I already have an external DSP speaker, but I am looking for a speaker with passive filters that remove high frequency sound. Any suggestions?

What about a regular high pass filter for subwoofers?? You can get them at Walmart or any stereo shop? Basically the same thing as posted above.

Using an old high quality 2 way or 3 way speaker system from an old stereo will work wonders on what you hear. Far better than anything that is offered for ham or CB radios, they really bring clarity because the do so much to uncompress the audio. Static less noticeable and clarity is far greater. I use a JBL 2 way speaker, and it is fantastic. That is how I roll . . .

if your radio RX isn't working right; then send it to a shop that can make it right.

Robb, I do the same thing, bought an external speaker (cobra) and replaced the speaker with a nice 3-way pioneer 4" speaker, what a difference.

Thanks. I'm just looking to limit high frequency stuff maybe a little more than usual. Similar to an outboard EQ. I don't think off the shelf car audio stuff has the right response range.

I do the same thing. Use a HIFI 3way but added a switch to disconnect the tweeter.Better audio than my expensive Yaesu speaker with switched filters. On my mobile speaker I added a small inducter in line( a ferrite ring with about 20 turns on it)

[That's high pass. You want to cut the high frequency.

Years ago I gave my dad a Radio Shack personal amplified listening device. It consisted of a unit small enough to hang around his neck like a necklace and a set of earphones. The box had a three band eq on it to where if he wanted to listen to tv without cranking up the tv too loud and he could roll off the lows, mids,or highs.

Doesn't the DSP speaker provide a cutoff frequency in the range you desire? The only reason I would go with a passive filter here is if the cutoff of the DSP was too sharp. If the sound quality was poor with the DSP speaker, did you try connecting a quality speaker to it's DSP circuit?

The DSP speaker does a good job on all noise, especially static. I really would like to eliminate most noise above 4k as much as possible in addition. I typically like have EQ on any audio which I don't currently have on the IC-7000
