A question about break-in period of a beam antenna

like most cb antenna builders they won't divulge their trade secrets jeff,

you know i like to get to the truth on technical matters if i can, especially if it could offer an advantage in the cut & thrust of a pileup on 27.555mhz and this intrigued me,

so a few years ago i used my pico scope to capture and analyze multiple jogunn audio samples then got to work trying to figure it out,
for weeks i could not see what they were claiming ,
some time later i noticed (purely by accident) when i turned my monitor to black & white to view some old aerial photography of my celtic & romano british metal detecting sites there it was, as clear as the mud on the ground, how did i miss that:eek:

its just an illusion of LOUDNESS, a form of horn loading, reinforcement of the transmitted audio created by large resonant cavity between the operators ears.

nothing to do with the antenna at all(y)

Pat's former job included writing promotional material for several antenna manufacturers by the way.

Ah, Garth! You saw through the veneer!

As the snake charmer said when he discovered his pet diamondback Furse in a threatening pose: "Furse is coiled again!"

(You have to say it out loud while thinking of Snidely Whiplash....)

Bull Dog may not be there but Bull Shit is alive and well there. (y)

I can just see them telling a customer "You can't complain to us about the lack of performance yet, you still have another 36 hours before your aluminum is going to break in and start working like our advertising says".

Iwas onto this aswell when reading this post LMAO!! I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT IVE HEARD THIS CLAIM BEFORE!! it was some 11 meter guys in my area talking about this and believing it LOL!!!

break in period.

Has anyone hear of a V/H beam antenna having a break-in period? The last paragraph in my assembly instructions states the following:

BREAK-IN PERIOD: This antenna is made of 6063-T6 aluminum tubing, which is the highest grade aluminum tubing put into an antenna. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for the antenna to gain maximum performance.

Will someone that really knows please explain what's going on here?

Please don't get me wrong i am not laughing at you but this is the funnest thing i have ever heard sense we told a CB nu-bee that he needed to put Vaseline on on his star duster so the signal can slip out easier and to get coax covers so to keep the snow of his coax. and the next day he went to Ray's electronics and inquired about them.

this is almost as good as the audiophools having to "break in" their new $10k oxygen free gold lanthanum speaker cables.otherwise they are harsh and cold.
