Frances 96" whip.

I would take the 96" Over a firestick any day .
There was a Shakespeare 1/4 wave Mobile antenna that also worked real well, but they are all gone now as well.

The effects of velocity factor become greater when the antenna element is completely encapsulated inside the insulation then it does when you simply run the wire through a fiberglass tube with an inside diameter much larger than the wire.

100% correct.

I've got two old 96's. They were great antennas when we had them mobile. I looked at them a few weeks ago while moving junk into our new barn. They looked pretty brittle. They were heavily used in the day.

I will pay good money for Francis Amazer, just let me know

I'm still on a recovered Amazer a friend gave me several years back. I treated it with a nice refinishing, but after a couple of years its due again. I will pay great money for someone's great condition Amazer or final run Wheeler Dealer uncut, original length. Just let me know. I am serious and putting out another call for one of these.
Thanks and 73's

Shorter Fransis antennas are on sale at the truck stops. Does this mean they are being blown out as remaining stock?

shorter francis are still being manufactured today brand new. The 96" francis are discontinued long ago, unfortunately.

From what I've heard some outfit bought the rights to the old frances idea, but refused to buy the manufacturing setup. They made a few models after that and got bad reports. I understand that they stopped production and have not resumed, because they could not keep the wires inside the fiberglass in the correct relationship.

It might just be a story I read or heard somewhere too.

depressing but understandable

Its depressing but understandable, that in this day and age, no one but the most die hard CB fanatics will wear a 8 ft + antenna. Given that, they would have to sell them to the few that will want one but at a cost that those who want one might not be willing to pay. If any of you have an original and in minty shape, I put up a cool hundred for it, but I doubt if any are around new a this point. :({Cry_river}

And how many would you like to purchase ?

PM me with your contact information

Francis had better research and development than they had marketing. I noticed they always produced a better match than other unloaded 1/4 waves but how the marketing department failed to get the most advertising in this area stumps me. They had a major advantage and I don't recall ever seeing it explained as well as what is listed in that old patent.

Maybe they should have made up some lies about their product. Unscrupulous?? yes but it has been selling antennas for years.

Francis antennas live on (probably in name only) under the DAS umbrella.
