cobra 29 lx

No I think you need to read what I said. I did not make any derogatory remarks about the repair facility. I merely stated that maybe he should of ask that question before he made a purchase. Ie, buying a car and going home then asking people if the dealership and the car are of any quality. As for being a newbie. I was probably talking on a CB before u were even a little sperm. So check yourself boy

I recently purchased one off ebay new from moving on cb radios and he butchered the radio but found another guy on a forum that does awsom work even included a youtube video of what he did to my radio here the link. Cobra 29 LXLE TIP 120 Variable Swing mod for James in Canada... - YouTube

If any one needs work done check him out.

Here is a pic of the inside of ashtonfords 29 LX,,I make sure to mount the darlington TIP 120 on the existing heatsink with a mica to keep things cool and efficient. The pot will never burn out doing it this way.

Thanks for posting that brother,,
I'm a member here on this forum as well,,enjoy your radio and thanks for your business.

I just bought one that I ripped a bunch of capacitors and the modulation transformer out of, lol.

BTW, why does DTB spread coils and bypass the anti spike diode? Just curious, I've read pros and cons.

all dtb did to my new 29 lx was take the tuning slug out of the radio he is just a truck stop hack like you would find at any truck stop cb shop

i recently got one off ebay from a place called moving on Radios, they totally butchered the radio but I sent it to 577-Jersey and he totally peaked , tuned and undid all the butchery done by that hack. Also put in a varatible power control on the rf knob. He does awsome work and he not one of these guys that dosent answer your emails etc and make you wait 6 months for your radio. Iam very happy with this new radio.

577 is good people he's answered a few questions and pointed me in the right direction on things if I ever need radio work done he'd be one to do it. I've sent radios out to people that say they can do magic and what I get back is nothing more than truck stop tunes. Learning is part of this hobby and if you don't learn you spend money more than once . Being a a newbie is not a bad thing but listening to people who know is the best thing. Asking questions isn't bad either but learning to research outside of forums by either google or others ways really cuts back on blowing up forums buying literature and reading everything you can helps to.

I have a Galaxy DX-979 from DTB and it's perfect. Variable power set to a 3/4 watt dead key on the low side. Modulation set perfect. Sounds great on SSB, open clairifer works smoothe. Also rock solid on the 6 dig. freq counter. I am thinking it's the best set up of any radio I have bought. No drift after 2 min. warm up. even with out keying.
