Unfortunately it seems to be built into the design and it costs money to get rid of it!!! Although each design seems different and the boards are quite different the over riding way it works with the sotware seems the same. The people that alter what is produced are the people that purchase a thousand units and put their money down. Us users are at the bottom of the pile...its all about what they can produce for a price the consumer will pay that still allows them to make a profit. To be honest the only thing that counts is sales and the the more it costs the less they sell. The market is not looking for quality. The market wants cheap throw away goods at a price they can afford to buy new every 6 months like a new Handphone. CW is about as much use on these as the PA switch.
Until one of the big three produce a 10m radio for us freebanders we will continue to complain about what the CB market throws our way.

CW is useful to many thousands of users that otherwise would just ignore this radio. There is a demographic being ignored here.

Duster I have to say I kind of agree with DD18. If new ham guys are not required to know code most of them could care less about CW. Sure older guys who are Hams might give it a shot but not likely. I think the younger crowd now is into freebanding on SSB between 11 and 10 meters. Lots of Europe on there everyday and no beep beep that I have heard. I guess it all comes down to age and license requirements. Just my 2 cents

You'd be surprised at the amount of older and younger no code amateurs that are learning CW. It's not just a few. It's not just the USA crowd. It's worldwide. I freeband myself, but I also use these rigs on the armature bands.
So would many other users. Just because it's no longer required doesn't mean CW is no longer popular.

Duster what frequency are they doing it on? Anytime I go to 10 meters I might hear one or 2 just into 28.000 to like 28.200, once I get to 28.350 or so they are talking not using CW. I understand the enitre concept of CW it sure works long distance and is easy if you know it but I just don't hear many of them at all either skip or ground wave. I don't think I have heard any out of South America, Canada, Ireland or the UK. Have heard a few out of Italy and Germany
You must be turning the dial to quickly. I sure find my share of newbies and old codgers to QSO with when the band is open.

I'm sure you have a ton more experience that I do with CW, last time I really did anything like that was in my Boy Scout days and I'm 59 yr's old now so that should give you an idea. We did it for a merit badge in the day with a home made key powered by a D battery, was a great thing to learn that I have never forgot.
Been pounding away since 1974. When the band is open, I hang on 6 and 10 and ride the waves as long as I can. I encounter new and old amateurs picking up the hobby frequently.

I'm a new ham and struggling to learn morse. Seems like more often than not I hear CW activity on 10 and no phone activity. I haven't mastered the code yet, I'm just starting out, so I may be hearing beacons, but it is activity when phone is dead.
I would want CW on a radio.
A full HF rig would suit my needs just fine, but after that radio, I will still be looking at the export market. They are a quick answer to the simplest HF mobile bands. No screwdriver needed, just a 102 on the corner of the flat bed on my one ton.

I believe 409shop is still selling the V3 . Who is selling the v6 and is there any improvement over the V3? I see they have changed to a 6 pln mic and have changed the SWR pickup.Also is there new software yet? I'm still using 1.01 beta.

Yeticomnz has version 6 with the mic gain on the outer echo ring.
They need to be turned up a bit to hit 40w on SSB but they do it well.
I plugged an S-45 mic into my version 6 and it works a treat, In fact it works real good. Plug and play dynamic or electret...that's pretty neat.
None of the anytones stayed this long on the bench...
Another strange thing is the clarifier..you can keep turning it and it goes and goes and goes...just loke the eveready bunny....start at 27.205 for example and you can surf right thru all the bands...as though the band switch does not exist..it tops out at 30 point something and stops. But you have got there with out touching the band switch...just like a VFO. Turn to the left and it takes you down to 25mhz in what ever steps you have it set for.
Set the clarifier function for rx only and voila..you can set split on the fly.
And just lie a VFO..when you turn the radio off it comes back where you left off.
if you started in Band C ch 20 and left it on 30mhz then from there on band C ch 20 will be that frequency until you use the clarifier or the programming to change it. Ever had a radio with two hundred plus VFO's before?
