New president lincoln 2

EXPORT MOD!

The beauty of that mod is that unlike the President Grant 2 you can put it on a switch on the rear which is great for those of us who are amateurs and may not want to have to go through all the various bands when using it on 10m. The President Grant 2 requires a jumper to be altered as well as a wire cut.

Oggy, when you do your part 2 video can you show it in VFO mode? I'm interested to know whether when you get to a certain point you have to change band to continue going up/down or not. It'll be the main thing that decides whether I'll go for one or not.

the Lincoln board made in china sure looks a lot like the newer anytone/maxlog/stryker design and even the function menu and usb computer programming?? hopefully it is a step above these other radio's to have the president name on it.

That's the main reason I'm avoiding it for now.

I'd like to here it on CW. I wonder if it has the buffer issue like the CRE and Anytone.

Dave, can you plug a key in and give it a few taps? It'll be readily apparent if the issue still exists.

There you go showing your ignorance again, all you need is a DPDT switch to do wire and jumper at same time, or a SPST switch and an internal relay, I posted that mod about 2 or 3 years ago when Jacko first appeared and your still saying it is easier to do on a lincoln than a grant, 3 extra wires soldered to jumper points and switch is all you would need to add and a different type of switch, do they not teach you anything on they ham courses ?

Put the two wires that correspond too the export mode on the same switch position that corresponds to the open wire on the other pole, and the third wire on the other pin that corresponds to wire closed and it will do both at same time.its not rocket science,

you could even do it with a magnet and reed switch or add another 2.5 mm jack socket to switch the relay if doing it relay way, I'm sure there may even be spare switch positions on one of fascia switches to do it relay way

Either way will work just as it will on jacko 2 or any other president that has wire and 3 prong jumper.you could even remove jumper post altogether and hard wire it to circuit board.

Where do you get these fantasy ideas from? Angel dust?

Firstly thanks for all the comments on the video :D

Hello to my Old Mate Jazzsinger, give me an E-mail, nice to catch up with you:w00t:

Well Connor, at the weekend I will show the radio operating, sadly due to the day job that's as soon as I can get it On The Air.
If you took note of the video it was in VFO mode and I flicked from 28megs to the top of the Ham band in one action.
It is continuous tuning.
It is such a different radio to the Grant II ASC, more features for sure.
Build quality is as good as the big Stryker out of the same factory.
I think the Grant has a slight edge on build, but certainly not enough to be a deal changer.

All I can say I'm glad I've got both

I've heard the Grant II is selling faster than hot cakes ATM, but just when the Lincoln II will be available to the public, i'm not sure , but I would think within a couple or three weeks.

Hi Dave, hope you had a good Xmas and New Year mate, nice to see you on here, look forward to long term reports on grant2 and lincoln2,as a tight arsed Glaswegian I like to know something works before I pay for it, as you know only too well, lmao, tighter than a camels arse in a sandstorm, but will pay for quality, which I hope these are after Jacko2 fiasco, made me very wary,

Both are nice looking radios. With guarantee's being worthless once modded I like to know they work, some call me tight arsed.I like to think of it as frugal, lmao, not like I don't have quality radios,so got no need to rush out to buy more, gives me the option of watching and waiting, knowing my other radios will all do the job and all accept my 2 new kl203p toys, was agonising there, almost 3 years without a linear, felt like a junkie on a desert island, lol, sorted now though.

Just need to get a twig up but going to need planning permission as neighbourly disputes have escalated and putting a tornado up without it is guaranteed to cause more grief, I could be doing without.

I'll try drop you a wee e mail tomorrow mate, be nice to catch up again, 73 Jazz ;) :)

Is that yaecomwood man thinking of buying a lowly President, wasn't anything to do with Alinco bringing out a DR135DX brought you crashing back to reality, was it? Pmsl Kwality Act !!!
